WINNIPEG, MB – The Kansas City Monarchs (35-21) took both games from the Winnipeg Goldeyes (25-31) Friday evening at Blue Cross Park, winning the continuation of a suspended game 5-3 before edging out the home side 1-0 in the regularly scheduled contest. Boxscore – Game One Boxscore – Game Two Friday’s action began with the resumption of a game originally suspended due to rain June 8, with the Monarchs leading 2-1 after three innings. Kansas City wasted little time adding to their advantage in the top of the fourth. Jaylyn Williams and Josh Bissonette opened the inning with singles, setting the stage for an Alex McGarry RBI single to make it 3-1. The Goldeyes responded in the bottom of the inning when Keshawn Lynch reached third and Max Murphy connected on his 11th home run of the season, a two-run shot to right field that cut the deficit to 5-3. However, that would be all the Goldeyes could muster. Luke Boyd (L, 1-6) took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits over three innings in his original June start. Derrick Cherry opened the resumed portion and gave up three runs on six hits in 2.1 innings. Tasker Strobel tossed two scoreless innings, and Joe Jaco worked a perfect ninth. Julian García, Kansas City’s starter when the game began in June, went 2.2 innings, giving up one run on two hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Blake Goldsberry (W, 4-1) handled the restart, tossing 5.1 innings and allowing two runs on six hits while striking out three. Hunter McMahon (S, 3) recorded the final two outs for the save. In the bottom of the inning, Tanner O’Tremba blasted a solo home run to left field, restoring a two-run cushion at 4-2. WINNIPEG, MB – The American Association announced Tuesday that Winnipeg Goldeyes infielder Matthew Warkentin and outfielder Max Murphy were chosen as starters for the West Division squad at the league’s upcoming All-Star Game. Pitchers Tasker Strobel and Ryder Yakel were also selected as members of the West Division pitching staff. In his first season with the Goldeyes, Warkentin has made his mark in his home country. The Windsor, Ontario native ranks first among all West Division first basemen in home runs (11) and RBI (36) while also recording a batting average of .290. The 28-year-old slugger joined the Goldeyes for the 2025 season after two productive seasons with the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League. This is Murphy’s second All-Star nod as a member of the Goldeyes, previously being selected in 2023. Already a fixture in the franchise’s record books, Murphy found another page to fill in his fifth season with the team, as he became the Goldeyes’ all-time leader in home runs, surpassing Reggie Abercrombie by hitting his 93rd home run in a Goldeyes uniform. He has registered yet another productive start to the season, hitting .267 with nine home runs and 37 RBI. Strobel is another two-time All-Star as a member of the Goldeyes, representing them in the 2022 game. A relief pitcher out of Avon, Indiana, Strobel has become a mainstay in the Goldeyes' bullpen for the past several seasons, and 2025 is no different. The 30-year-old has appeared in 24 games and has registered a 2.72 ERA and one save in 39.2 innings pitched. Also out of the bullpen, Yakel receives his first All-Star nod as a professional. The second-year Goldeyes pitcher has been outstanding in 2025, appearing in 24 games while recording two saves and a 2.21 ERA. He acted as a Swiss-Army knife for the Goldeyes in 2024, splitting time as both starter and reliever when the team needed to find coverage for innings, and he did that and more whenever he was called on. The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will host this year’s All-Star Game in Fargo, North Dakota on July 22. Players were chosen by representatives of each club. The Goldeyes’ series against the Sioux Falls Canaries continues Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. CDT at Blue Cross Park . Luke Boyd (1-5, 5.64 ERA) takes the mound for Winnipeg against Ryan Zimmerman (1-4, 11.48 ERA) for Sioux Falls. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (24-28) built an early lead but couldn’t hold off a persistent Sioux Falls Canaries (30-23) offense, falling 12-5 in the series opener Tuesday evening at Blue Cross Park. Boxscore The Goldeyes struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Matthew Warkentin , the reigning American Association Batter of the Week, continued his torrid stretch with a two-run homer to left that scored Jacob Robson and gave Winnipeg a 2-0 lead. Sioux Falls answered quickly in the top of the second with a Peter Zimmermann RBI single that scored Calvin Estrada to cut the lead in half. The Goldeyes restored their two-run advantage in the bottom half of the inning on a Robson sacrifice fly that brought home Ray-Patrick Didder to make it 3-1. The back-and-forth continued in the third, as Jabari Henry’s RBI single plated Matt Ruiz to bring the Canaries back within one. In the bottom of the fourth, Winnipeg pushed its lead to 5-2. With Didder and Kevin García on base, Robson hit into a fielder’s choice, but an error on the throw to the plate allowed both runners to score. From there, it was all Sioux Falls. FARGO, ND – Dillon Thomas’ 11th inning single gave the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (27-26) a 2-1 victory over the Winnipeg Goldeyes (24-27) at Newman Outdoor Field Sunday afternoon. Boxscore With two runners on, including courtesy runner Brendon Dadson at second base, Thomas lined a 1-2 pitch from Ben Onyshko into the right field corner to end the ballgame. What’s more, Lambson threw only 89 pitches – 69 of which were for strikes. Winnipeg opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning on a bloop single by Roby Enríquez that brought Ramón Bramasco in from third. The RedHawks tied it in the sixth when Juan Fernández doubled into the right-centre field gap to drive in Derek Maiben. Colten Davis (W, 3-6) pitched the final two innings for Fargo-Moorhead and did not allow a hit. The Goldeyes are off Monday before beginning a six-game homestand Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. when the Sioux Falls Canaries come to Blue Cross Park for a three-game series.
