WINNIPEG, MB – The Cleburne Railroaders (10-15) defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 4-3 in ten innings at Blue Cross Park Thursday evening.
Cleburne took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when third baseman Carter Aldrete hit a two-out double to centre field that drove in right fielder Cody Thomas.
The visitors added another in the third when Thomas hit a solo home run to centre with two out.
In the top of the fifth inning, designated hitter Brantley Bell extended Cleburne’s lead to 3-0 with a bloop single to right field that scored left fielder Mallex Smith.
Winnipeg (11-14) finally broke through in the seventh when right fielder Max Murphy crushed a two-out, two-run home run over the batter’s eye in centre field. It was his fourth of the season and travelled an estimated 430 feet.

In the tenth, first baseman Frankie Tostado lined a single to right field with two out that drove in Bell with the eventual winning run. Winnipeg was unable to advance Murphy – their automatic runner – beyond second base in the bottom of the inning.
