Davis’ first home run of the night, a solo shot to centre field in the sixth, restored Kansas City’s three-run advantage at 4-1. Winnipeg pulled to within a run in the bottom of the inning. Lynch and Murphy opened with singles, Holt reached on a fielder’s choice, and catcher Kevin García walked before second baseman Adam Hall singled to centre field to score Lynch and Holt and cut the Monarchs’ lead to 4-3. Kansas City broke the game open in the ninth. Torres singled home Luken Baker to make it 5-3 before Davis hit his second home run of the game, a three-run shot to centre field that extended the lead to 8-3. Sawyer Allen (3-1) earned the victory, allowing three earned runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked six and struck out four. Right-hander James Bradwell (0-5) took the loss after allowing three earned runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out two. Willian Suárez allowed one earned run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Eli Saul worked 2 1/3 innings and was charged with three earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one. Quinn Waterhouse surrendered one earned run on one hit and struck out two in two-thirds of an inning. Lynch went three-for-four with a double, two runs scored, and a walk. Hall and Murphy each had two hits, with Hall driving in two runs and stealing his 41st base of the season. The teams split the two games completed Tuesday after Winnipeg finished Monday’s suspended contest with a 6-5 victory in 10 innings earlier in the day.
