Goldeyes Launch Five Home Runs in Win Over Dogs

ROSEMONT, IL – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (12-16) slugged five home runs en route to an 8-3 win over the Chicago Dogs (14-15) Tuesday evening at Impact Field.

Chicago opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on a solo home run from Jacob Teter. Winnipeg responded quickly as Matthew Warkentin hit the first of his two home runs in the top of the second to tie the game 1-1.


The Goldeyes broke things open in the fifth inning with a four-run outburst, all courtesy of the long ball. Ray-Patrick Didder led off the frame with a solo shot to give Winnipeg the lead. After Keshawn Lynch reached on a single, Gustavo Sosa followed with his first home run of the season to extend the advantage to 4-1. Jacob Robson capped the inning with a solo blast to make it 5-1.


Warkentin continued the power surge in the sixth inning, launching his second home run of the night off the video board in left field to make it 6-1.


Chicago cut the deficit to 6-3 in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run home run by Brantley Bell, but the Goldeyes added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth. Warkentin singled home Ramón Bramasco before Tanner O’Tremba drove in Max Murphy to close out the scoring.


Jesse Galindo (W, 2-1) earned his second win of the season, delivering a quality start with six innings of work. He allowed three runs on six hits, walking one and striking out three. Brock Bell (L, 1-3) took the loss for Chicago, surrendering five runs on six hits over 4.2 innings.


The Goldeyes bullpen was flawless over the final three innings. Ryder Yakel worked 1.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts, Ben Onyshko retired the only batter he faced, and Trevor Brigden struck out the side in the ninth to seal the victory.


The series continues Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. CDT. Landen Bourassa (2-3, 3.24 ERA) will start for Winnipeg against Chicago’s John Baker (3-1, 3.09 ERA).

ROSEMONT, IL – Max Murphy clubbed his 93rd and 94th home runs in a Winnipeg Goldeyes uniform Wednesday evening, surpassing franchise legend Reggie Abercrombie to become the team’s all-time home run leader. Boxscore Winnipeg (13-16) secured the series win with an 11-2 victory over the Chicago Dogs (14-16) at Impact Field. The Goldeyes opened the scoring in the top of the second inning when Matthew Warkentin launched a solo home run to give Winnipeg a 1-0 lead. Murphy followed in the fourth with his record-breaking blast to double the lead. Later in the inning, Andy Armstrong hit a three-run homer to make it 5-0. Chicago cut the deficit to 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth, but Murphy struck again in the top of the fifth with his second home run of the game — a two-run shot that pushed the Goldeyes’ lead back to 7-2. Keshawn Lynch added a two-run single later in the inning to make it 9-2. In the sixth, Warkentin delivered an RBI single to score Ramón Bramasco , and in the seventh, Bramasco added a ground-rule double that brought Armstrong home to cap the scoring at 11-2. On the mound, Landen Bourassa (W, 3-3) earned the win with seven strong innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five. Tasker Strobel worked a scoreless eighth, and Derrick Cherry pitched a perfect ninth to close out the game. John Baker (3-2) took the loss for Chicago, surrendering seven runs over 4.1 innings. The Dogs used four pitchers out of the bullpen to finish the game. Goldeyes skipper Logan Watkins also reached a milestone with the win. It was the 200th of his managerial career. Outfielder Roby Enríquez made his season debut for Winnipeg, having been added to the active roster earlier Wednesday. The series wraps up Thursday at 6:30 p.m. CDT with the Goldeyes looking for their first sweep of the season. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (11-15) were held to just two hits in a 9-0 loss to the Kansas City Monarchs (19-7) on Saturday evening at Blue Cross Park. Boxscore Monarchs’ left-hander Josh Hendrickson (3-1) turned in a dominant outing, tossing six no-hit innings while walking three and striking out a season-high 15 batters—setting a new American Association mark for 2025. Kansas City opened the scoring in the first inning when Jorge Bonifacio doubled home Isiah Gilliam. Gilliam extended the lead in the fifth with a solo home run to make it 2-0. The Monarchs broke the game open in the sixth inning, batting around to score five runs. Josh Bissonette lifted a sacrifice fly to score Ross Adolph, followed by a two-run double from Álvaro González. John Nogowski capped the inning with a two-run single, scoring both Gilliam and González. Adolph added a solo home run in the top of the ninth to round out the scoring. Mitchell Lambson (3-1) started for Winnipeg and took the loss, allowing seven runs on 10 hits over 5.1 innings. The Goldeyes used three relievers—Ryder Yakel, Trevor Brigden, Landon Leach. Leach made his season debut, striking out two over two innings of work. Kansas City’s bullpen preserved the shutout. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (11-15) fell 6-2 to the Kansas City Monarchs (18-7) Friday evening at Blue Cross Park in the opener of a three-game weekend series. Boxscore Kansas City, owners of the American Association’s top-ranked offense, opened the scoring on the second pitch of the game. Monarchs right fielder Isiah Gilliam drove a solo home run over the left field wall to put the visitors ahead 1-0. The Monarchs continued to press in the second. Catcher Ryan Leitch hit an RBI double to left field that scored Jaylin Williams from second base, and a batter later, Gilliam collected his second RBI of the night with a single that brought home Josh Bissonette to extend the lead to 3-0. Kansas City added another in the third when third baseman Álvaro González singled to score first baseman John Nogowski, pushing the score to 4-0. The Monarchs' final runs came in the fifth. Nogowski singled to left to plate Ross Adolph, and centre fielder Blake Rutherford followed with a double into the left-centre gap to bring in Jhailyn Ortiz, making it 6-0. The Goldeyes responded in the bottom of the sixth with a historic swing from Max Murphy . The Winnipeg right fielder launched a solo home run to left — his fifth of the season and 92nd in a Goldeyes uniform — tying the franchise career record held by Reggie Abercrombie . In the eighth, Winnipeg threatened with the bases loaded. A fielder’s choice ground ball by Matthew Warkentin allowed Braxton Turner to score from third, cutting the deficit to 6-2. That would be as close as the Goldeyes would get, stranding two more runners in the inning. Right-hander Zan Rose (L, 1-1) made his second professional start and was tagged with the loss. Rose allowed five earned runs on 10 hits over 4.1 innings, walking none and striking out three. The bullpen combined for 4.2 innings of work. Derrick Cherry allowed one run in 1.2 innings. Ben Onyshko contributed a scoreless inning-plus, issuing one walk. Will Sierra walked two and struck out one in a brief appearance, and Tasker Strobel closed out the night with 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out one. WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Goldeyes right-hander Landen Bourassa (L, 2-3) turned in another outstanding effort Thursday night, tossing his second complete game of the season in a narrow 2-1 loss to the Kane County Cougars (11-13) at Blue Cross Park. Boxscore Bourassa, who leads the American Association with 41.2 innings pitched, surrendered just one earned run on five hits while striking out six and walking none. The Lethbridge, Alberta native continues to be a workhorse for the Goldeyes’ rotation. Winnipeg (11-14) opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Max Murphy doubled to centre field, driving in Ramón Bramasco to give the home side a 1-0 lead. Kane County responded in the top of the third with two runs. After a one-out error and a single placed runners at the corners, Trendon Craig delivered an RBI single to right, scoring CJ Valdez. A batter later, Armond Upshaw brought in the eventual winning run with a bunt single. The Goldeyes mounted threats in both the eighth and ninth innings. Kane County reliever Quinn Gudaitis issued two walks in the eighth before Jake Gozzo (S, 1) entered with the bases loaded and escaped the jam. In the ninth, Jacob Robson led off with a double, but Gozzo retired the next three batters — including back-to-back strikeouts — to preserve the Cougars’ win. Kane County tied things up in the top of the third on a home run by Todd Lott, but the Goldeyes quickly responded. Warkentin added to his productive afternoon in the fifth, driving in Max Murphy with a base hit. Later in the inning, Warkentin stole second, and the throw allowed O’Tremba to score from third, extending the lead to 4–1. Boxscore Kane County opened the scoring in the fourth inning on a wild pitch by Winnipeg starter Luke Boyd that brought Armond Upshaw home. Despite the run, Boyd (L, 0–2) turned in a quality start in his home debut, allowing just one hit and one earned run over six innings, walking two and striking out five. The Cougars padded their lead in the eighth. After Nilo Rijo crossed the plate on a single from Trendon Craig, Josh Allen followed with a two-run single to give the visitors a 4–0 advantage. Craig added his second RBI single of the night in the ninth to make it 5–0. Winnipeg's bullpen faltered late. Derrick Cherry held the line with a scoreless seventh, but Tasker Strobel surrendered three unearned runs in the eighth, and Will Sierra gave up another run in the ninth on three walks and a hit. Boxscore With two out in the top of the ninth inning, O’Tremba lined a single to centre field that brought Ray-Patrick Didder in from third base and broke a 3-3 tie. Trevor Brigden (W, 1-2) pitched around a one-out ground rule double down the left field line by Ray Zuberer III clinch the win for Winnipeg. For the third consecutive game, Lake Country opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Daunte Stuart came home on Luke Roskam’s sacrifice fly to centre. Luis Avilés Jr. hit a solo home run to left-centre field in the home half of the third to increase the DockHounds’ lead to 2-0 before the Goldeyes stormed back with three runs in the fifth inning to take the lead. Max Murphy continued to swing a hot bat, with a two-run double off the wall in right-centre that scored Kevin García and Didder to tie the contest at 2-2. Then Gustavo Sosa hit Winnipeg’s second three-bagger of the ballgame to plate Murphy for a 3-2 Goldeyes lead. Lake Country tied the game in the seventh inning when Ryan Hernández singled through the left side of the infield to bring Zuberer in to score. The Goldeyes responded in the third when Ramón Bramasco singled in Evan Alexander to tie the game at 1–1. The turning point came in the top of the fifth inning. With the bases loaded, Jake Guenther drew a walk to push Winnipeg ahead 2–1. Just three pitches later, Murphy crushed a grand slam to centre, giving the Goldeyes a commanding 6–1 lead. It was Murphy’s team-leading fourth home run of the season. The DockHounds added a run in the seventh on a single by Brian Rey, but Jacob Robson answered with a solo shot in the eighth to restore Winnipeg’s five-run advantage. OCONOMOWOC, WI – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (8-12) were held to one run for the second consecutive game, falling 5-1 to the Lake Country DockHounds (11-7) Friday evening at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park. Boxscore Lake Country took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly to centre field by Ryan Hernandez that scored Daunte Stuart. The Goldeyes tied the game in the top of the fifth when Jacob Robson lined a base hit to centre field, bringing Max Murphy home. However, the DockHounds responded immediately in the bottom half. Stuart drove in Eddy Pelc with a double before Ray Zuberer III hit a two-run home run to right field, giving the DockHounds a 4-1 advantage. A 30-minute rain delay paused play in the middle of the sixth, but the DockHounds added to their lead in the seventh inning with a solo home run to centre by Aaron Hill. Goldeyes starter Landen Bourassa (L, 2-2) was charged with the loss, allowing four earned runs on six hits over five innings. He walked two and struck out one. DockHounds starter Chris Jefferson took a no-decision after allowing one run on eight hits over 4.2 innings with four walks and four strikeouts. JT Moeller (W, 2-0) picked up the win in relief, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
