Goldeyes to Host National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration June 21 - Event to Provide Free Night Out for Families Displaced by Forest Fires

WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Goldeyes, in partnership with Perimeter Aviation and Manitoba Blue Cross, are proud to present National Indigenous Peoples Day on Saturday, June 21 at Blue Cross Park in downtown Winnipeg. Join us as the Goldeyes take on the Sioux City Explorers at 6:00 p.m.
In recognition of the challenges faced by many families across the province, Manitoba Blue Cross has generously donated 400 game tickets and 400 food vouchers to individuals displaced by the ongoing forest fires. In addition, they are providing complimentary bus transportation to and from the game to help ensure an enjoyable and stress-free evening for those affected.

The evening will feature a vibrant lineup of live entertainment celebrating the richness and diversity of Indigenous culture, music, and dance. Ramsey Rae & Chances R will perform on the Promenade stage prior to the game while the Summer Bear Dance Troupe will perform during the game. Pamela Davis will perform the anthems.

WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Goldeyes left-hander Mitchell Lambson has been named Carbliss American Association Pitcher of the Week for the period ending June 15, the league announced Monday afternoon. Lambson twirled a complete game, seven strikeout performance Friday in a 6-1 Goldeyes victory over the Gary SouthShore RailCats at U.S. Steel Yard. He did not walk a batter. The 34-year-old is 4-1 with a 4.03 earned run average in seven starts this season and has only surrendered 10 free passes in 42.1 innings pitched. Lambson won an American Association championship with the Goldeyes in 2017 and was named the league’s Pitcher of the Year following the 2019 season, during which he went 13-4 with a 3.11 earned run average. Overall, the native of Montclair, California has made 97 appearances for Winnipeg between 2017 and 2024 and has compiled a 38-18 record with a 3.84 ERA. Lambson has pitched nine complete games, including three shutouts, and has struck out 375 batters. Lambson is among the Goldeyes’ career leaders in wins, winning percentage (.678), games started (62), complete games, innings pitched (469), and strikeouts. Chosen by the Houston Astros in the 19th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft out of Arizona State University (Tempe, Arizona), Lambson also pitched in the Atlanta Braves’ and Milwaukee Brewers’ organizations, reaching the Class-AAA level on two occasions. Boxscore Winnipeg (13-16) secured the series win with an 11-2 victory over the Chicago Dogs (14-16) at Impact Field. The Goldeyes opened the scoring in the top of the second inning when Matthew Warkentin launched a solo home run to give Winnipeg a 1-0 lead. Murphy followed in the fourth with his record-breaking blast to double the lead. Later in the inning, Andy Armstrong hit a three-run homer to make it 5-0. The Monarchs broke the game open in the sixth inning, batting around to score five runs.
