WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Goldeyes ace Luke Boyd was named the American Association’s Pitcher of the Week for the period ending August 2, the league announced Monday. Boyd delivered a gem in his lone start of the week, leading the Goldeyes to a 3-1 victory over the Kansas City Monarchs at Legends Field. The right-hander pitched eight innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out eight. The 28-year-old is 7-3 this season with a 4.31 earned run average and 46 strikeouts. His 77 1/3 innings pitched are the most on the staff. Now in his second season with Winnipeg, Boyd re-signed with the club January 14 after making 17 starts in 2025. He posted a 5-10 record with a 4.53 ERA over 95 1/3 innings. The Ojai, California, native was originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 38th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft out of Baylor University in Waco, Texas, but chose to return to college. He re-entered the draft in 2021 and was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 17th round.
