Goldeyes Drop Season-Opener to Milwaukee

FRANKLIN, WI – The Milwaukee Milkmen defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes 6-2 at Franklin Field Friday evening in the 2026 season debut for both clubs.
Milwaukee opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when third baseman Michael Hallquist came in to score on designated hitter Griffin Doersching’s single to centre field.
The Milkmen extended their lead the following frame on a two-run home run to centre by Hallquist that made the score 3-0.
The next three innings were scoreless before the Goldeyes scored their first run of the season in the sixth when left fielder Roby Enríquez doubled off the wall in right-centre field to bring home Adam Hall and trim Milwaukee’s lead to 3-1.
The home side would add two runs in the bottom of the inning however, as catcher Andrew Sundean singled to left field, driving in right fielder Justin Janas scores and second baseman Yordys Valdés to make the score 5-1 Milwaukee.
The Milkmen tacked on another in the seventh on a one-out, solo home run to Doersching that made it 6-1.
Winnipeg got one run back in the top of the ninth inning when right fielder Max Murphy crossed the plate on designated hitter Jiandido Tromp’s fielder’s choice, accounting for the 6-2 final.
Murphy’s ninth inning double gave him 1,002 total bases in a Goldeyes uniform, breaking the tie he held for the club’s all-time lead in that category with the legendary Reggie Abercrombie.
Enríquez was four-of-four on the evening, with a double, a run batted in, and a stolen base. He was responsible for half of Winnipeg’s eight hits.
Landen Bourassa (L, 0-1) started for the Goldeyes and worked five innings. He allowed three runs – all earned – on five hits and struck out five. Tasker Strobel, James Colyer, Quinn Waterhouse, and Eli Saul pitched out of the bullpen for Winnipeg.
Solomon Bates (W, 1-0) pitched five scoreless innings for Milwaukee, giving up just three hits, striking out five, and walking one. He was followed by Jhordany Mezquita, Hunter Bryan, Justin Kelly, and Ryan Boyer.
The series continues from the Milwaukee suburbs Saturday at 6:00 p.m. with righthander Noah Millikan (0-0, 0.00 ERA) scheduled to start for the Goldeyes. The Milkmen will counter with lefty Juan Díaz (0-0. 0.00 ERA).

Lake Country opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when designated hitter Ryan Hernández singled through the left side of the infield to drive in shortstop Ripken Reyes and third baseman Julio Carreras. In the home second, catcher Ryan Lee doubled down the left field line to bring home first baseman Jack Blomgren, allowing the DockHounds to increase their lead to 3-0. The game was, for all intents, over after five innings as the Goldeyes had used all of the pitchers available to them. Before the inning was through, Dom Johnson and Julio Carreras would score on the same wild pitch to make it 7-3. In the fourth inning, Ryan Hernández came home on a fielder’s choice, and Connor Bagnieski drew a bases-loaded walk, giving the DockHounds a 9-3 lead. The Goldeyes jumped out to an early lead when right fielder Noah Marcelo – the game’s first batter – reached on an error and later scored on centre fielder Adam Hall ’s sacrifice fly to centre. It was all Kane County after that, however. In the bottom of the first inning designated hitter Todd Lott brought second baseman Zane Spinn home with a base hit to tie the ballgame and first baseman Alex McGarry singled off the first base bag to drive in centre fielder Matt Bottcher to make it 2-1. In the fourth Cougars shortstop Sam Dexter hit a ball to shallow centre field that dropped between Hall and shortstop Ramón Bramasco . Two runs scored on the play, increasing Kane County’s lead to 4-1. Dexter would then come home on right fielder Armond Upshaw’s single up the middle to make it 5-1 Cougars. The score would remain the same until the bottom of the eighth when Upshaw notched his second run batted in of the day with a two-out single that brought in Dexter, giving the home side a 6-1 lead. Luke Boyd started for Winnipeg and worked the first two innings. Arij Fransen , Tasker Strobel , Weston Lombard , and Derrick Cherry each pitched an inning of relief, while Noah Millikan ’s three-inning appearance spanned the fourth through sixth frames. Despite Kane County leading after the top of the ninth, the bottom of the inning was played to give the players extra live game action. The Goldeyes now make the short journey to Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, where their final two pre-season games will be played Tuesday and Wednesday. ROSEMONT, IL – The Winnipeg Goldeyes made the most of a visit to hitter-friendly Impact Field Sunday afternoon, rolling to a 15-5 pre-season victory over the Chicago Dogs. Raphaël Pelletier hit his second home run of the spring – a three-run blast in the third, while Roby Enríquez added a two-run shot in the fourth inning. Other big swings on the day for Winnipeg included a two-run single by Ramón Bramasco in the fourth and a two-run double by Ray-Patrick Didder in the eighth. All but two Goldeyes drove in at least one run. Chicago hit three long balls of their own, two coming off the bat of Brian Fuentes. CJ Cepicky added a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Keshawn Lynch and Kevin García worked back-to-back bases-loaded walks off Fargo-Moorhead reliever Jon Beymer (L, 0-1) in the final inning to put the Goldeyes ahead. The pre-season contest was called after five innings owing to the unseasonably cold temperatures and windy conditions. Winnipeg opened the scoring in the third inning when rookie catcher Raphaël Pelletier homered down the right field line, giving the Goldeyes a 1-0 lead. The RedHawks tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a single by catcher Juan Fernández that brought right fielder Andy Nelson in to score. Pelletier struck again in the fifth, driving in left fielder Keshawn Lynch with a single that made the score Winnipeg 2, Fargo-Moorhead 1. Pelletier then scored on centre fielder Noah Marcelo ’s single that increased the Goldeyes’ lead to 3-1. In the home half of what would be the final inning, Fargo-Moorhead scored three runs without the benefit of a hit. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced Friday several improvements to Blue Cross Park that will be in place for the upcoming American Association season. The biggest improvement will be a new LED field lighting system provided by Ballpark Lighting Inc. These new LED lights will replace the old incandescent lights with a more energy efficient and environmentally-friendly system. The LEDs have multiple colour fixtures and will improve the game experience with dynamic colour changes and customizable light shows for player intros, home runs, and more.
WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced Thursday that outfielder Roby Enríquez has re-signed with the club for the 2026 season. The 29-year-old hit .280 for the team in 2025, with 13 doubles and 22 runs batted in. He struck out just 35 times in 243 at-bats. Defensively, Enríquez led the Goldeyes with seven outfield assists. Enríquez joined the team in 2024 and posted a .296 batting average along with 18 doubles, three home runs, and 42 RBIs. Prior to signing with the Goldeyes, the Carolina, Puerto Rico native spent two seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ system, reaching the Class-AA level with the Texas League’s Amarillo Sod Poodles in 2022 and 2023. In 136 games in Arizona’s chain, Enríquez hit .290 with 27 doubles, eight home runs, and 65 RBIs. Enríquez made his professional debut with the Boise Hawks of the Pioneer League – a Major League Baseball Partner League – in 2021 after two seasons at Indiana State University (Terre Haute, Indiana). A left-handed batter, Enríquez also has experience playing in the Puerto Rican Winter League and has represented the island in the Caribbean Series, where he has been a teammate of numerous Major League veterans. “Getting Roby back is a huge boost for our lineup,” said Goldeyes skipper Logan Watkins . “We thought we had probably lost him to Mexico, so adding him this late in the offseason is really significant for us. He’s excited to be back and with us for a full season, and I think he’s going to have a great year.” In a separate transaction, the Goldeyes released rookie infielder Mason Dobie . Pelletier finished the 2025 season with the London Majors of the Intercounty Baseball League, where he batted .243 with two home runs and four runs batted in in 11 games. The Repentigny, Québec native was chosen by the Texas Rangers in the 25th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft out of École Secondaire Édouard-Montpetit (Montréal, Québec). Pelletier attended Kansas State University (Manhattan, Kansas) from 2022 to 2024 and the University of Kentucky (Lexington, Kentucky) in 2025. The 24-year-old hit .224 with 20 doubles and 19 home runs in 173 college contests. He drove in 70 runs. A former member of Canada’s National Junior Team, in 2018 Pelletier competed at the Pan American Baseball Confederation (COPABE) U-18 Pan-American Championships, winning a bronze medal. “We are excited to sign another young Canadian player in Pelletier,” said Goldeyes manager Logan Watkins . “He’s going to strengthen our catching situation and give us opportunities to mix up the lineup a little bit.
