Sage Ferguson joined the Winnipeg Goldeyes in July 2026, making the jump to professional baseball shortly after completing his collegiate career at Colorado Mesa University. The right-hander arrived in Winnipeg following a senior season in which he established himself as one of the top relief pitchers in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Sage began his college career at Northeastern Junior College in Colorado, where he developed into an accomplished starting pitcher. In 2024, he posted a 2.93 ERA over 61.1 innings while striking out 99 batters, averaging more than 14 strikeouts per nine innings. He then transferred to Colorado Mesa, initially working as both a starter and out of the bullpen.
His role changed during his senior season in 2026, and Sage flourished at the back end of the Mavericks’ bullpen. He recorded six saves with a 2.05 ERA in 21 appearances, striking out 39 batters while issuing just two walks over 26.1 innings. The performance earned him First Team All-RMAC honours as a relief pitcher.
Sage also gained experience in summer collegiate baseball with the Morehead City Marlins of the Coastal Plain League. In 2025, he did not allow an earned run across 13 innings, surrendering only four hits while striking out 16.
Winnipeg signed Sage on July 26, giving him his first opportunity in professional baseball. He quickly carried his college success into the Goldeyes bullpen, providing another young power arm while beginning the next chapter of a career that has seen him steadily improve at each stop along the way.
