Like Mitchell Lambson, Kevin García began his second stint with the Winnipeg Goldeyes in 2024 after spending several seasons in the Mexican League with Pericos de Puebla, Acereros de Monclova, and El Águila de Veracruz. A native of El Centro, California, Kevin enters his fifth season in a Winnipeg uniform in 2026.
Kevin’s professional career began after he was selected out of Loyola Marymount University in the 2014 MLB Draft. He spent two seasons in the Toronto Blue Jays organization and two more with the Minnesota Twins before making his way to Winnipeg for the first time in 2018.
His initial stint with the Goldeyes was interrupted by a knee injury that cut short his 2018 season, but Kevin returned to play throughout 2019. After not appearing professionally in 2020, he resumed his career in Mexico with Puebla the following season and continued playing in the LMB before eventually returning to Winnipeg.
When Kevin rejoined the Goldeyes in 2024, he initially served as the club’s secondary catcher while also seeing occasional time around the infield. He appeared in 39 games that season and provided valuable defensive versatility.
That role expanded considerably in 2025. Kevin earned the starting catching job and responded with a strong bounce-back season at the plate, hitting four home runs and driving in 27 runs over 61 games. He caught 52 of those contests while also making nine appearances at third base.
Now firmly established as one of Winnipeg’s veteran players, Kevin brings experience behind the plate, positional flexibility, and a familiarity with the club that has developed across two separate stints with the Goldeyes.
