A Calgary, Alberta native, Aidan Newton began his professional career with the Winnipeg Goldeyes in 2026 and quickly established himself as one of the club’s most promising young arms.

Aidan’s path to professional baseball began close to home at Lethbridge College, where he earned Second Team All-Canadian College Baseball Conference honours as a starting pitcher. He then moved south to NCAA Division I Northwestern State University in Louisiana, making 19 appearances over two seasons before completing his collegiate career at the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina.

His final college season proved to be his best. Aidan went 7-2 with a 3.32 ERA for Mount Olive in 2026, striking out 83 batters in 81.1 innings while throwing five complete games. His performance earned him Second Team All-Conference Carolinas honours and helped pave the way for his first professional opportunity.

Winnipeg signed Aidan in late July, and he made an immediate impression. The rookie finished the regular season with a perfect 5-0 record and a 3.28 ERA, allowing just 30 hits in 35.2 innings. His signature performance came September 1 at Fargo-Moorhead, where he tossed the first complete game and shutout of his professional career in an 8-0 victory over the RedHawks.

That outing helped Aidan earn American Association Pitcher of the Week honours for the final week of the regular season, providing an impressive finish to a rookie campaign that began only weeks after his college career came to an end.
