Goldeyes Rebound to Split Twin Bill

WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (19-23) split a doubleheader with the Kansas City Monarchs Tuesday at Blue Cross Park, dropping the opener 12-0 before taking the nightcap 11-3.
In game one, Kansas City (23-17) starter Ryan García (W, 6-2) was dominant. The right-hander threw a complete game, three-hit shutout. He struck out three and walked one. The three hits he gave up were all singles.
The Monarchs took the lead in the second inning when centre fielder Hudson Head lined a single to left field that scored second baseman Austin Callahan. Two batters later, catcher Brady Lindsly doubled off the left field wall, bringing Head and right fielder Trevor Boone in to make it 3-0.
In the top of the fourth, Boone came home on third baseman J.D. Davis’ single to left before Callahan hit a three-run home run to left field with Davis and first baseman Saúl Garza aboard, giving Kansas City a 7-0 advantage.
They would add another four in the sixth. First, Head drew a bases-loaded walk that forced Davis in. The next hitter, Boone, hit a three-run double to right. Garza, shortstop Sahid Valenzuela, and Head all came around, and it was 11-0 Monarchs.
Davis hit a solo home run to left field in the seventh to close out the scoring.
Ryo Kohigashi (L, 2-2) started for Winnipeg. He went five innings and gave up seven runs on 11 hits. The lefty struck out seven and walked two. Kohigashi leads the Goldeyes’ staff with 48 strikeouts on the season.
Willian Suárez and Quinn Waterhouse pitched out of the bullpen for the Goldeyes.
The second game appeared to be a continuation of the opener when first baseman Luken Baker hit a three-run home run to left field in the top of the first inning. Left fielder Nick Martini and Garza were on base and Winnipeg quickly found itself down 3-0.
In the bottom of the inning, the Goldeyes pulled to within one. Shortstop Ray-Patrick Didder crossed the plate as the result of a throwing error before third baseman Ramón Bramasco came in on second baseman Adam Hall’s groundout to shortstop that made the score 3-2 in favour of Kansas City.
The Goldeyes took the lead in the second frame. First baseman T.J. Schofield-Sam tied the contest with a single to right-centre that drove in right fielder Keshawn Lynch. Centre fielder Noah Marcelo then put Winnipeg ahead 4-3 with a base hit up the middle that brought Schofield-Sam in to score.
Schofield-Sam drove in two more runs in the home half of the third. He hit a double down the left-field line that plated designated hitter Max Murphy and Lynch, making it 6-3 Goldeyes.
Winnipeg added two more in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 8-3. Bramasco singled to right field scoring Schofield-Sam. Then Didder came home on Marcelo’s fielder’s choice.
In the sixth, Hall scored on Lynch’s groundout to the pitcher, catcher Kevin García drove in left fielder Jiandido Tromp with a single to left, and Murphy scampered home on Schofield-Sam’s sacrifice fly to centre field that made it 11-3 Goldeyes.
Mitchell Lambson (W, 3-4) pitched five innings and allowed three runs on five hits. The veteran struck out two and did not walk a batter. Eli Saul and Derrick Cherry split the final two innings and did not give up a hit.
Jacob Gómez started for the Monarchs and lasted just 1 2/3 innings. He surrendered four runs – three earned – on three hits while issuing a pair of walks.
The series concludes Wednesday with a special 4:00 p.m. Canada Day start time. Winnipeg will send southpaw Tasker Strobel (2-1, 6.35 ERA) to the mound, while Kansas City will counter with right-hander Grant Gambrell (2-0, 1.64 ERA).

WINNIPEG, MB – Winnipeg Goldeyes centre fielder Noah Marcelo has been named a West Division starter for next month’s American Association All-Star Game, the league announced Tuesday. Marcelo leads the Goldeyes with ten home runs, 36 runs batted in, and 17 stolen bases. His .317 batting average ranks second on the team. The 25-year-old is third in the 12-team league in RBIs, tied for sixth in home runs, and tenth in steals. A native of Redwood City, California, Marcelo signed with the Goldeyes January 8 after being acquired from the Boise Hawks of the Pioneer League September 15, 2025. Marcelo hit .351 for the Hawks in 2025, with 12 home runs and 75 runs batted in, leading the Pioneer League with 64 stolen bases. The All-Star Game takes place Wednesday, July 15 in Lincoln, Nebraska. WINNIPEG, MB – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (18-21) avoided a three-game sweep at the hands of their Red River rivals with a 5-1 victory over the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Blue Cross Park. Boxscore Fargo-Moorhead took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when designated hitter Dillon Thomas lined a double to left field that drove in left fielder Jairus Richards. The RedHawks increased their lead in the second. A balk was charged to Goldeyes starter James Colyer , allowing centre fielder Cole Yearsley to score from third base. There was no further scoring until the top of the seventh inning. Catcher Tripp Clark hit a two-out double to left field that brought in right fielder Andy Nelson to make it 3-0 Fargo-Moorhead. Yearsley added a base hit to right with two out in the eighth that scored first baseman José Sermo and second baseman Colby Wilkerson and gave the RedHawks a five-run advantage. Boxscore After two scoreless innings, Winnipeg shortstop Ray-Patrick Didder led off the bottom of the third by smacking his sixth home run of the season to left field to make the score 1-0 Goldeyes. Winnipeg added two more runs in the fourth inning to take a 3-0 lead. First, left fielder Roby Enríquez doubled to right-centre field, and designated hitter Jiandido Tromp came in. Boxscore Sioux City jumped out to a 4-0 first-inning lead. Designated hitter Braulio Vásquez opened the scoring with a base hit to right field that drove in centre fielder Austin Davis and third baseman Zac Vooletich. Right fielder D’Shawn Knowles then hit a sacrifice fly to centre that brought left fielder Henry George in to score, before Vásquez crossed the plate on a fielder’s choice off the bat of second baseman Jackson Van De Brake. Winnipeg (16-21) evened the score in the top of the fourth. Centre fielder Noah Marcelo tripled to right field to lead off the frame. He would come home on second baseman Adam Hall ’s double to left. Right fielder Max Murphy singled to centre to bring Hall in, and catcher Kevin García drove in Murphy and designated hitter Jiandido Tromp with a base hit up the middle. The Explorers wasted no time retaking the lead, however. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Vooletich scored on George’s double to right field that made it 5-4. Sioux City increased its lead to two runs in the sixth when first baseman Alberto Osuna doubled to centre to drive in George. Three more runs for the Explorers in the seventh inning seemingly put the game out of reach. Davis plated Van De Brake with a single to left that made the score 7-4, then a throwing error allowed shortstop Elliot Good and Davis to come home, giving the home side a five-run cushion. The Goldeyes though did not go down without a fight. Three consecutive doubles to start the ninth inning by García, first baseman Roby Enríquez , and shortstop Ray-Patrick Didder trimmed the deficit to 9-6. Didder later scored on Hall’s fielder’s choice to bring the Goldeyes within two. For the second time in three games, Winnipeg brought the tying run to the plate in the final inning, but the ballgame ended when Murphy lined into a double play. Josh Landry (W, 2-4) started for Sioux City and exited after the sixth inning. He gave up four runs on eight hits while striking out five and walking a pair. WINNIPEG, MB – The Lincoln Saltdogs (13-20) avoided a series sweep with a 7-3 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Blue Cross Park Sunday afternoon. Boxscore Lincoln went ahead 1-0 in the top of the first inning when centre fielder Cam Phelts scored on a delayed double steal. The visitors increased their lead in the second on catcher Griffin Everitt’s two-run home run to left field that made the score 3-0. Winnipeg (15-19) got one run back in the third inning when third baseman Ramón Bramasco lined a base hit to right field that drove in shortstop Ray-Patrick Didder . The Goldeyes tied the game in the fifth. First, Bramasco singled up the middle to once again bring Didder in to score. Then, left fielder Adam Hall hit a sacrifice fly to deep right-centre field that drove in catcher Raphaël Pelletier , evening the score at 3-3. The Saltdogs quickly regained the lead in the top of the sixth inning on a solo home run to right field off the bat of left fielder Jairo Pomares. Lincoln added three more in the eighth to put the game out of reach. Second baseman Nick Shumpert crossed the plate on Pomares’ bloop single to right, and designated hitter Connor Bagnieski drove in first baseman Jake Hjelle and Pomares with a single to right field that made the score 7-3. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (15-18) picked up their third consecutive victory Saturday evening with an 11-8 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs at Blue Cross Park. Boxscore Lincoln (12-20) opened the scoring in the top of the second inning when catcher Jacob Morrow hit a sacrifice fly to centre field that brought designated hitter Connor Bagnieski home. They would increase the lead to 2-0 moments later when third baseman Jack Dragum came in on centre fielder Cam Phelts’ base hit to centre. The Goldeyes responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning. First baseman T.J. Schofield-Sam singled through the right side to plate shortstop Ray-Patrick Didder to make it 2-1. Then, catcher Kevin García tied the game with a single to left field that brought in second baseman Keshawn Lynch . Centre fielder Adam Hall gave Winnipeg a 4-2 advantage with a double off the left field wall that drove in Schofield-Sam and García. In the third, Lynch doubled down the left field line to score Didder, before the Goldeyes erupted for four more runs in the fourth inning. First, designated hitter Noah Marcelo singled up the middle to drive in third baseman Ramón Bramasco and Hall. Next, left fielder Jiandido Tromp brought Marcelo in with a single to left that increased Winnipeg’s lead to 8-2. Finally, Lynch punched a single through the left side that drove in right fielder Max Murphy . The Saltdogs trimmed the deficit to six runs in the top of the fifth. Right fielder Cary Arbolida lifted a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed second baseman Calyn Halvorson to trot home. Schofield-Sam, celebrating his 25th birthday, crushed a solo home run to right in the sixth, upping the Goldeyes lead to 10-3. Winnipeg’s bullpen ran into trouble in the seventh. Bagnieski hit an infield single and a subsequent throwing error allowed first baseman Jake Hjelle and Halvorson to cross the plate, making it 10-5. Lincoln would score three more times in the frame – on three consecutive bases loaded walks. The Goldeyes got a desperately needed insurance run in the bottom of the inning. Hall tripled to right field and Bramasco came home to make the score 11-8. Tasker Strobel , (W, 2-1) making a spot start for Winnipeg, went five innings and gave up three runs on eight hits. He struck out one and walked two. Weston Lombard , Dominic Hambley , Quinn Waterhouse , and Derrick Cherry (S, 6) appeared in relief, with Cherry securing a six-out save. Ryan Rembisz started for the Saltdogs and lasted just three innings. He allowed nine runs – eight earned – on nine hits while striking out three and walking two. Hall finished the evening with three extra-base hits (two doubles and a triple), along with three runs batted in. Schofield-Sam was three-for-four with two RBIs and two runs scored. The series concludes Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with righty Luke Boyd (3-1, 4.67 ERA) making the start for the Goldeyes.
