He now leads the American Association with 54 strikeouts on the season and his 1.69 earned run average ranks second. The Goldeyes opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when right fielder Max Murphy came home on a groundout to shortstop by designated hitter Miles Simington . In the fourth inning, Winnipeg put five runs on the board to increase their lead to 6-0. First Murphy and Simington crossed the plate on a double by centre fielder Roby Enríquez that bounced over Explorers’ first baseman John Nogowski into right field. Shortstop Andy Armstrong then dropped a single into shallow centre field to score left fielder Keshawn Lynch and Enríquez to make it 5-0, before Armstrong himself touched home on third baseman Dayson Croes ’ bloop single to left. Armstrong knocked in the Goldeyes’ final run in the bottom of the eighth when he won a nine-pitch battle with Sioux City reliver Rayne Supple by driving a single to centre field that brought in Enríquez to make the score 7-0 Winnipeg. The Explorers (14-18) ended the Goldeyes’ shutout bid with two out in the top of the ninth inning on an infield single by third baseman Osvaldo Martínez that drove in centre fielder Scott Ota. However, Tasker Strobel struck out the next batter, left fielder Zac Vooletich, to end the ballgame. Starter Austin Drury (L, 1-1) worked five innings for Sioux City. He surrendered six runs – five earned – on eight hits while striking out six. Murphy’s second inning single extended his hitting streak to 21 games, the longest in the league this year. “We had great starting pitching again from Joey,” said Goldeyes manager Logan Watkins . “He didn’t feel the best today, but he came out and threw great and we had that one inning where we put up five runs. It’s nice when you get a start like we had today, and you can combine it with some timely offense that gives you a chance to win comfortably.” Winnipeg will look for their first series sweep of the season Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. CDT when righthander Marshall Kasowski (0-0, 0.00 ERA) makes his Goldeyes debut. WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (17-15) came from behind to defeat the Sioux City Explorers 8-7 in game one of the three-game weekend at Blue Cross Park Friday evening. The Goldeyes won despite being out-hit 16-6. It was the 14 free passes surrendered by Sioux City pitching that made the difference. Zac Reininger started for the Goldeyes and while it wasn’t his best effort of the season, he did manage to gut through five innings giving up 12 hits, and six runs, five of them earned, walking three, and striking out two. Joey Murray took the ball for Sioux City and he lasted four innings, giving up two hits, and three runs, two of them earned, walked six and struck out two. Ryder Yakel (W, 1-1) threw one inning of relief to earn the victory. He gave up two hits, one run that was earned, and struck out two batters. Brandon Brosher (L, 1-4) ended up taking the loss. He threw one inning giving up two hits, five runs all earned, walked three, and stuck out one. The scoring got started early in the top of the first inning when John Nogowski hit his second home run scoring Daniel Lingua to get the Explorers on the board at 2-0. A walk to Osvaldo Martínez put the following batter on base, and a base hit would advance him to second. An RBI single by Jake Ortega would score Martínez and put the Explorers up 3-0. The Goldeyes answered in the bottom of the second with the bases loaded and Kevin García up to bat. García’s fourth double of the season scored Miles Simington and Keshawn Lynch making it a 3-2 ballgame. Sioux City (14-17) extended their lead to 4-2 in the top of the third on an infield single by Austin Drury that scored Zac Vooletich. Two more runs would score in the top of the fourth inning on a fielder’s choice from Vooletich scoring Nogowski making it 5-2. Vooletich would later come around to score on a single by Ortega that made it a 6-2 Explorers lead. The Goldeyes would get a run back in the bottom of the fifth on a bases-loaded issued to Lynch that forced in Ramón Bramasco and made it 6-3 Sioux City. The final run for the Explorers came in the top of the sixth inning on a single by Martínez off Yakel. In the bottom of the sixth inning with Brosher back out for his second inning of work, the bases were loaded for Dayson Croes , who hit a two-run double down the left field line scoring García and Andy Armstrong cutting the lead down to two at 7-5. Rob Emery stepped to the dish and hit an RBI single of his own making it a one-run ballgame at 7-6. Nate Gercken came in to relieve Brosher before the at-bat to Max Murphy . Murphy would hit a sacrifice fly driving in Croes and tying the game at 7-7. Not done yet, Emery made it all the way around to third base on a stolen base and an errant throw by the Sioux City catcher Dwight Childs setting the stage for Simington, who chopped a base hit up the middle scoring Emery to give the Goldeyes an 8-7 edge. Local product Ben Onyshko later came into the ballgame and threw two innings of hitless baseball and stuck out one batter. Gercken pitched an inning for Sioux City and allowed a hit. Jacob Gilliland followed with two shutout innings, gave up a hit, walked two batters, and stuck out two. Justin Courtney (S, 5) came in to pitch for the top of the ninth. After giving up back-to-back singles to lead off the inning, Courtney would settle in and fan the next three batters to secure the victory. Sioux City pitchers ended up allowing 14 free passes, 11 of them being walks, while three batters were hit by pitches. Murphy also added to his hitting streak which is now up to 20 games. In the end, Goldeyes manager Logan Watkins was glad his team got the win, in a scrappy performance. “I'd say it wasn’t a good game, but it was a game that I was happy we won.” Watkins said chuckling. “We didn't necessarily play badly and we put together quite a few good at bats today and then finally we started getting some knocks that were starting to cash in some guys. It was great to see (Ben) Onsyshko, and Justin Courtney come in and close it out.” The Goldeyes will be back for game two at Blue Cross Park Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. CDT to meet the Sioux City Explorers. Joey Matulovich (4-0, 2.02 ERA) will start for Winnipeg, while Austin Drury (1-0, 4.76 ERA) is expected to take the mound for Sioux City. Photo Credit: Jenna Spanola/Kane County Cougars GENEVA, IL – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (16-14) won their fourth consecutive game Tuesday evening at Northwestern Medicine Field, defeating the Kane County Cougars by a score of 12-6. The winning streak is only scratching the surface. The Goldeyes have won their third series in a row, have won the season series against Kane County, and will be looking for their first series sweep on Wednesday. Box Score Travis Seabrooke started for the Goldeyes and pitched 3.1 innings, giving up six runs – all earned – on nine hits, walking none, and striking out one. Westin Muir (L, 3-3) took the loss allowing eight earned runs on 14 hits, walking none, and striking out one batter. The Goldeyes loaded the bases up in the top of first inning and brought in the first two runs of the game on a single by Miles Simington scoring Ramón Bramasco and Rob Emery . The next batter, Jake McMurray , hit a two-run double to left bringing home Max Murphy and Simington making it a 4-0 game. The final run of the frame came on an RBI single by Keshawn Lynch that scored McMurray from second base. Kane County (16-14) answered with an RBI ground out by Josh Allen scoring Armond Upshaw from third making it a 5-1 Goldeyes lead after one inning. The Cougars scored again in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI single by Simon Reid that scored Claudio Finol from second reducing Winnipeg’s lead to 5-2. The Goldeyes added on in the top of the fourth when Dayson Croes scored Andy Armstrong giving the Fish a 6-2 lead. A batter later, on the next pitch, Emery sent an RBI single to right bringing home Bramasco to push the lead top 7-2. Two pitches later, Murphy hit an RBI single scoring Croes giving the Goldeyes an 8-2 lead. The Cougars once again answered back scoring four runs in the bottom of the frame with an RBI from Cornelius Randolph scoring Jonah Davis chopping the lead to 8-3. Reid would hit his second RBI of the game scoring Finol on a ground-out fielder’s choice cutting the lead 8-4. Harrison Smith hit an RBI single scoring Randolph making it an 8-5. The final run of the frame came on an RBI single by Upshaw scoring Reid cutting to a two-run deficit. Both ballclubs saw goose eggs until the eighth inning when Emery collected his second RBI of the game scoring Armstrong on a sacrifice fly. Giving the Goldeyes a 9-6 lead. In the top ninth the final three runs came on a RBI double by Armstrong, and a two-run single by Bramasco pushed the game out of reach and the 12-6 win. In the bullpen for the Goldeyes Nick Trogrlic-Iverson (W, 2-1) took over in relief for Seabrooke and earned the win in his 3.2 innings giving up a hit, walking none, and striking out six. Justin Courtney earned the six-out save, his fourth of the season giving up a hit in his two innings, walking one, and striking out four. Ryan Richardson came into the game for Kane County and pitched four innings, giving up a hit, walking one, and striking out two. Jordan Martinson pitched an inning, giving up a hit, and an earned run, walked two, and struck out none. Michael Brewer pitched an inning, giving up two hits, and three runs, all earned, walking two and struck out one. Logan Watkins was excited to see his ball club win their fourth win in a row and pick up a third series win in a row. “Yeah it was good to see you know the work that (Nick Trogrlic) Iverson and (Justin) Courtney did tonight.” Watkins said. “A little bit of a different story than what it has been lately where you know starting pitching has kind of been the headliner and bullpen hasn't felt relevant the last couple games just because they weren't needed. Then you know obviously baseball is baseball and there's some crazy games that happen and tonight starting pitching a little unfortunate Travis has been throwing the ball really well so little unfortunate that he had kind of a rough inning but really happy to see the bullpen show up and take care of business when we needed them to.” Winnipeg returns home to Blue Cross Park Friday, June 14 when they will host the Sioux City Explorers at 7:00 p.m. For information about 2024 Season Tickets, Mini Packs, Skysuites, and Group Packages, please complete and submit the form below.

GENEVA, IL – What’s better than one complete game? Two complete games. The Winnipeg Goldeyes (15-14) won game one of the series in Kane County taking down the Cougars 3-1 on the hot arm of Landen Bourassa . Box Score Bourassa (W, 2-2) threw his second complete game in as many starts vs. Kane County, and made it back-to-back compete games for the Goldeyes after Joey Matulovich ’s win Sunday. It was the third victory in a row for Winnipeg – the longest winning streak of the 2024 season. Bourassa threw nine innings of one run baseball, walking none, and tying a season high striking out 11 batters. Nick Belzer (L, 3-1) took his first loss of the season, lasting 5.1 innings giving up three runs, nine hits, walking two, and striking out one. The scoring got started in the bottom of the second inning on three straight seeing eye singles, capped off by an RBI single by the Cougars’ Hayden Smith. The Goldeyes tied the game in the top of the fourth on a two-out RBI double by Roby Enríquez – his first extra-base hit of the season – scoring Max Murphy from third base. The Fish took the lead in the top of the sixth against newly entered pitcher CJ Carter. With the bases loaded, Andy Armstrong roped an RBI single down the left field line scoring Jake McMurray and Enríquez. The two-run single pushed the lead to 3-1 and that was the decider. Goldeyes skipper Logan Watkins had nothing but good things to say about his pitching effort in back-to-back outings. “It was a fantastic job by Landen! Obviously, he pitched a complete game which tells you he threw the ball well. But he also didn't give up much hard contact the whole night. He struck out 11 and just really controlled the game almost every inning.” The series continues Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. CDT. Winnipeg will send southpaw Travis Seabrooke (1-1, 1.80 ERA) to the mound with Kane County expected to start righty Westin Muir (3-2, 5.18 ERA). FRANKLIN, WI – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (14-14) defeated the Milwaukee Milkmen 8-1 at Franklin Field Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Goldeyes took their fifth series out of the past six and evened their record at .500 for the first time this season. Box Score Joey Matulovich (W, 4-0) went the distance for Winnipeg and struck out 14 – the most of any pitcher in the American Association this season. The right-hander allowed one run on just six hits. He lowered his earned run average to a stingy 2.03. The game was scoreless through five innings, with the Goldeyes taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth on centre fielder Miles Simington ’s two-out solo home run to right field, his third of the campaign. Simington finished a double short of the cycle. Winnipeg added a run in the eighth when right fielder Max Murphy smacked a home run to right. It was his seventh round-tripper of the season, and it extended his hitting streak to 15 consecutive games, also a season-high in the league. The Goldeyes added some insurance runs and more in the top of the ninth, scoring six times to take an 8-0 lead. Ramón Bramasco , Rob Emery , and Simington each had run-scoring singles, Murphy drove in one with a ground-rule double, Jake McMurray brought a run home with a sacrifice fly, and Keshawn Lynch crossed the plate as the result of a rare obstruction call. Matulovich’s shutout bid was spoiled with two-out in the ninth on left fielder Armani Smith’s single to left field that scored catcher Oscar Santos. Starter Sebastián Rodríguez (L, 1-1) worked 6.2 innings for the Milkmen (15-12). He surrendered one run on only four hits and struck out five. The win sets up a series finale Sunday with both clubs looking for a series win. Box Score Zac Reininger (W, 3-2) flirted with a complete game going 8.2 innings and allowing eight hits, four runs (all earned). He struck out four and walked two Milkmen batters. Milwaukee (15-11) sent out lefty Greg Minier (L, 1-3) who worked five innings and gave up three hits, two earned runs and struck out four. The scoring started in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single hit by José Sermo, who was gunned down at second by right fielder Max Murphy for his second outfield assist of the season. Milwaukee led 1-0 till the top of the fourth, when Murphy hit an RBI double to extend his hitting streak to 15 games and tying the game at 1-1. A sacrifice fly hit by Jake McMurray gave Winnipeg a 2-1 lead. The top of the eighth inning was when the Fish threw down the gas pedal scoring five runs on five hits. Rob Emery scored Ramón Bramasco on an RBI single, and an errant throw pushed Dayson Croes to third. A wild pitch with Murphy at the plate pushed a second run across. Murphy latter singled to left pushing runners at the corners. An RBI single by Miles Simington added the third run of the frame. A wild pitch in the at-bat of Keshawn Lynch plated a fourth run, and a sacrifice fly by Lynch brought the fifth run of the frame giving the Goldeyes a 7-1 lead. In the bottom of the ninth inning, with runners at first and second, former Goldeyes outfielder Reggie Pruitt Jr. hit a three-run home run to put a dent into the lead making it a 7-4 ballgame. Reininger’s night came to an end an out shy of a complete game. Justin Courtney came onto pitch and struck out his only batter. Manager Logan Watkins was very pleased in Reininger’s outing, “He's done a great job in his two starts since coming off bit of an injury,” he commented. “It looks like maybe he's not quite 100% as far as how he feels but he's throwing the ball great and continues to throw strikes. He was throwing hard tonight which was great to see and he earned the chance to go out there for the ninth inning and try to finish it off.” The Goldeyes will take on the Milkmen for the rubber match Sunday afternoon. Joey Matulovich (3-0, 2.32 ERA) will take the ball for the Fish and Milwaukee will counter with Sebastian Rodríguez (1-0, 3.09 ERA). The game will start at 1:00 p.m. CDT.
