Fish to be Well Represented at NL All-Star Game
Seeing as they have had the best record since opening day, it’s no surprise there will be a lot of Goldeyes suiting up when the league’s elite meet next week in Joliet.
The roster for the Great Plains squad at the July 7 Northern League All-Star Game was announced today and nine Goldeyes were on it. They will suit up for Kansas City manager Andy McCauley with players from Fargo-Moorhead and Kansas City to face players from Gary, Joliet and Schaumburg that will be managed by Joliet’s Wally Backman.
Pitchers Aaron Odom, Ace Walker, Bear Bay and Matt Davis along with second baseman Josh Asanovich, shortstop Wes Long, outfielder Dee Brown, catcher Dustin Richardson and designated hitter Juan Diaz will represent the Great Plains squad. They will take the field with nine players from Fargo-Moorhead and four from Kansas City.
Providing the opposition will be the Great Lakes squad. Its roster will be announced Tuesday.
Seven of the nine Goldeyes will make their NL All-Star debut. Of the other two, Davis represented Winnipeg in 2007 when the game was in Fargo, the same year Diaz represented Joliet.
