Leatherman On His Way Back To Organized Ball

Add Dan Leatherman to the growing list of players headed from Winnipeg back to Major League organizations.

Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today that the Washington Nationals had acquired the pitcher’s contract, making him the 51st player picked up from the Goldeyes by a Major League club.

Roberson Added To Training Camp Roster

Winnipeg will open training camp on Thursday with 29 players.

Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today that outfielder Colin Roberson has been invited to training camp. Roberson received the invite following today’s closed tryout at Canwest Park, attended by 20 players, most of them from Manitoba with others coming from BC and Ontario.

Goldeyes Preparing For Training Camp

Where there were once months and then weeks until the Goldeyes opened training camp, there are now just days.

Entering their 15th Northern League season, the Goldeyes open training camp at Canwest Park on Thursday. Workouts will run most days from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are open to the public.

Goldeyes Add Richardson & Gibson Out Of Northern League Tryout

Two weeks until training camp, two more players on the training camp roster.

Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the signing of catcher Dustin Richardson (right) and infielder Jesse Gibson. Both joined the club out of the Northern League’s open tryout last weekend in California. As the pair were added, outfielder Brian Aragon
was released.

Goldeyes Sign Lentini And Deal Young To CanAm League

Fish fans will be very happy with today’s news out of Winnipeg. Northern League pitchers, meanwhile, not so happy.

Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today the return of two-time NL All-Star
outfielder Fehlandt Lentini. To make room on the roster for Lentini, first baseman
Walter Young was traded to Sussex of the CanAm League for a player to be named later.

Goldeyes Add To Roster With Signing Of Bay, Foltin & Jackson

Four weeks from the opening of training camp, Goldeyes manager Rick Forney has
all but determined who will take the field at Canwest Park come May 1.

Forney announced today the signing of pitchers Ronald Bay, Wayne Foltin and Aaron
Jackson. There are now 27 players on the Winnipeg roster, 14 of whom are pitchers.
The training camp roster maximum is 28, but can be increased to 29 if the Goldeyes
draft a player at next weekend’s Northern League tryout in California.

Pease Returns While Leatherman & Walker Arrive

It’s been a busy day for Goldeyes manager Rick Forney.

Forney announced today the signing of pitchers Dustin Pease, Dan Leatherman and
Andrew Walker. Pease returns to the Goldeyes while Leatherman and Walker are
new to the Northern League after spending last year in organized ball.

At the same time, Forney freed up some roster space by releasing pitchers Joel
Posey, Bobby Madritsch, Patrick Lawler and Jeff Landing as well as utility player
Matt Mann.
