Baseball Manitoba Scholarships
Golf Tournament

The Winnipeg Goldeyes are proud to support Baseball Manitoba and have established three $1,000 scholarships to be awarded annually.

These scholarships will be awarded to members of Baseball Manitoba who are continuing with post-secondary education and will be maintaining their involvement in the baseball community. Scholarships will be awarded based on an individual's baseball ability, academics and service to their community.

2009 Baseball Manitoba Scholarship Winners

The 2009 scholarships were awarded prior to the August 26 Goldeyes game at Canwest Park.

Elliot Desilets (Elie, MB)
A power-hitting picher/3rd baseman, Elliot played plays for the St. James A’s of the Winnipeg “AAA” Baseball League, and for the St. James team in the Manitoba Junior Baseball this summer. He is currently playing for the Team Manitoba at the Canada Summer Games in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He graduated from St. Pauls High School in Winnipeg and has worked with Special Olympic athletes. He plans on attending Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky this fall, and will be taking a bio-chemistry major.

Tim Penner (Steinbach, MB)
A former member of the Team Manitoba Youth selects, Tim played catcher and infield for the Mitchell Mariners Senior team and the Carillon Junior team. Tim is returning for his third year of university at Jamestown College in North Dakota, where he is taking Business Management. He was on the honour roll in High School and in his first year in college where he was named a Dakota Conference Scholar Athlete. In his spare time Tim enjoys making his own wood baseball bats

Dustin Donald (Rossendale, MB)
Dustin has been accepted into the University of Manitoba for his first year of university, where he plans to enter into dentistry. Mainly a catcher, Dustin played this past season for the Portage “AA” and South Central “AAA” teams, and is also a member of Team Manitoba Canada Games team, which is currently at the Canada Summer Games in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He helps clean up at the Rossendale Community Centre and spends Sundays at the church doing crafts with the kids.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes Field of Dreams Foundation would like to congratulate Elliot, Tim and Dustin on their achievements and wish them luck in their future endeavors.
