Bragging rights and a nice cash prize will be on the line during Day 1 of the two-day All-Star Celebrations.

When the Northern League’s elite gather at Canwest Park, their first order of business will be to decide the hardest hitters, most accurate pitchers and fastest baseurunners at the Pepsi All-Star Skills Competition on July 7.

Following an on-field autograph session with the all-stars, the baserunners will meet to determine the fleetest of foot. Both teams will send their four fastest, with the top two meeting in the final. The winner picks up a cool $500.

Next up are the pitchers, who won’t be showcasing their ability to throw fast, but rather accurately. A little target practice will be in order, with the most accurate of the eight competitors winning $500.

The final, and most exciting, event of the evening is the home run derby. After the first round of six hitters, the top three move on to the final, with the eventual champion taking home $1,000.

All fans are invited to stick around following the Pepsi All-Star Skills Competition and head for the Lund Picnic Park beyond the right field wall for a concert.
